IDS WEST 2013

Every year we look forward to IDS West and to have the opportunity to view first hand what's new and exciting in our West Coast design community. The show kicked off on Thursday evening with an opening party where we had a wonderful time viewing all of the booths and bumping into familiar faces.

Above are some of our favorite displays at the show. Kelly Deck Designs' impressive Dinner by Design display was so intricate with the cross-stitch graphic installation; we were all wishing we had something similar in our dining rooms. Provide was happy to see that MTH woodworks had some new wood/resin stools on display in addition to their beautiful art pieces. Matthew Mate's 'Bowie' light was definitely a favorite of ours; it's beautiful rosewood CNCed ends were the perfect balance to the beams of light running through the middle of the fixture.

We finished off the show by viewing the Homes & Living Laneway Home, built in partnership with Alair Homes and IDS West. The home was auctioned off live at the show and all of the proceeds went to the Alzheimer Society of B.C. The home included Interior Design by Modern604 and Provide was pleased to be able to contribute to the project and this worthy cause.

DAVID MELLOR DESIGN – A PROVIDE EXCLUSIVE

Provide is excited to announce that we are know representing David Mellor cutlery in our showroom and online. This beautiful collection has been on our wish list for quite sometime and we feel it is the perfect compliment to our Heath Ceramics tableware line – in fact, Heath Ceramics has chosen this brand themselves to sell on their website and in their retail locations. We are showcasing three styles in stainless steel, Pride (third photograph) designed by David Mellor in 1953, Chelsea designed by Corin Mellor (David Mellor's son) and Embassy (not shown) which was originally commissioned for use in British embassies with the aim of demonstrating the best of British modern design.

David Mellor is the best known cutlery designer in the UK. Born in Sheffield, historic centre of cutlery making, he trained originally as a silversmith. His modern cutlery has a widespread reputation for it qualities of design and manufacture, and examples are in many international design collections.

David Mellor cutlery is manufactured in a unique purpose built factory (second photograph above) designed by Sir Michael Hopkins. The circular factory has been described as a minor masterpiece of modern architecture and has received many important architectural rewards. The cutlery is made by a small specialist team of highly skilled craftsmen, some of whom have worked for decades with David Mellor, building up an exceptional expertise of metalwork. Though the factory is technologically advanced, a high degree of hand finishing is employed to give the cutlery its perfectionist quality.

NEW SHEREEN DE ROUSSEAU JEWELLERY DAZZLES INTO FALL

Shereen De Rousseau does it again with her new stunning Fall 2013 Jewellery Collection, now available at Provide.

Continuing the use of the ever-popular pyrite stone in her pieces and playing with layers of beads and coins, this new collection is positively gorgeous. We love her use of creamy moonstone beads, which match anything and everything, the perfect neutral jewellery addition to any wardrobe.

Once-piece imperticular we adore is her new name tag bracelet, the mix of typography and layers of labradorite beads creates an attractive combination and pairs beautifully with denim jeans and a plain white T-shirt.

Shereen's jewellery is so accessible for all kinds of women and we are pleased to showcase this fantastic collection here at Provide.
