KALEIDOSCOPIC DESIGNS FROM BROOKLYN'S ESKAYEL

Provide is ecstatic about the new Eskayel cushions that just arrived at the showroom. Lead designer Shannon Campanaro continues to amaze us with her unique kaleidoscopic designs. The new arrivals are from her 'Jangala collection', the 'Playland capsule collection' and the 'Island collection'.

Shannon started Eskayel in 2009 when she decided her apartment needed a re-vamp. Wanting to create an accent wall with interesting wallpaper, she thought "why don't I just make my own wallpaper"? From there she found a way to print her custom patterns using a large scale repeat and ended up being incredibly pleased with the results. Gaining recognition on a large scale, her company flourished quickly. Being able to do what she loves, her passion for art drives her dedication to the company (which she runs with her boyfriend, interns and a lot of freelance workers).

Drawing her inspiration from the everyday and her many travels, her fabrics are whimsical and eccentric. I find myself staring at the ambitious shapes as if i'm doing an inkblot test and I need to figure out what I  can make of the designs. It is fascinating to me how she can take a piece of her own art; digitally manipulate it and produce the most unusually beautiful patterns.

Sustainably produced in the US, these cushions make a striking addition to any space. For more information, please visit our website www.providehome.com

STURDY'S NEW JAPANESE INSPIRED 'OSAKA' COLLECTION

During a visit to STURDY's showroom last week, Robert & David brought back some beauties from Martha's new 'Osaka' collection. This selection features an alluring contrast of resin shapes inset into the classic STURDY forms.

The inspiration for this collection emanated while Martha was traveling through Japan. She was taken by how the clear moonlit nights washed over the luscious fields of age-old bamboo creating a dream like quality. Frequently inspired by natures beauty, it was only natural for Martha to integrate this inspiration into her resin designs.

Each resin strip or sphere is hand-poured & hand-sanded. They are then placed into the mold and the coordinating outer colour is then poured on top, this is what distinguishes the difference in the placement of the strips. Some will appear bold as they have been pushed further to the front of the piece, or they may appear more diluted as they have been pushed further to the back. This process is what makes each resin piece unique.

MONOCHROME MASTERPIECES

Black and white monochromatic combinations are a staple in the design industry. The classic duo makes a bold statement in any space. The high contrast of deep rich blacks with the crisp clean whites give the impression of elegance and sophistication. The best way to indulge in this timeless combination is to have fun mixing different patterns and textures or to introduce a few key pieces into an already existent monochromatic room. Above are some of our favorite black and white pieces.

CELEBRATING CANADIAN DESIGN AT PROVIDE

With Canada Day upon us, Provide would like to take the time to say how proud we are to be able to support some of the most talented Canadian as well as local Vancouver designers and artists. We've had the pleasure over the years of being able to send exquisitely crafted accessories, furniture and art to different locations throughout Canada as well as internationally. These Canadian collections have been featured in such notable home decor magazines as Elle Decor, Interior Design Magazine, Architectural Digest and Western Living Magazine.

Works include Martha Sturdy's timeless classic resin and metal accessories/art, Christian Woo's modernist furniture, Loyal Loot's rustic log bowls and Catherine Regehr's beautifully produced textiles (just to name a few).

It's wonderful to see that Canadian designers are making a splash in today's design world and Provide is honored to be a part of it. We are eager to see where their paths will lead and what new and exciting things they will showcase at Provide next.

For more information on these and other Canadian designers please visit our website www.providehome.com
